The Korea-Fraunhofer Collaboration Hub for Science and Technology
K-FAST is Fraunhofer’s official collaboration platform dedicated to Korea, launched in 2024 under the auspices of Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and spearheaded by KIAT through the Global Industrial Technology Cooperation Center (GITCC) program.
K-FAST는 2024년 산업통상자원부(MOTIE)의 후원으로 출범한, 한국을 위한 프라운호퍼 공식 협력 플랫폼으로, KIAT가 글로벌 산업기술협력센터(GITCC) 프로그램을 통해 주도하고 있습니다.
Prof. Hanselka highlights the vital role of international cooperation in driving innovation and technological independence. He presents K-FAST as a key initiative connecting Korean industry with Fraunhofer’s research excellence. With five joint projects already underway in battery technology and future mobility, and many institutes eager to join, he emphasizes turning this potential into impact and strengthening long-term global competitiveness.
Support for global R&D collaboration
TIPA (Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs) is the central funding instrument for the “Global R&D Program” under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS). This program supports consortia led by a Korean SME and is closely linked to K-FAST and GITCC.
