Greetings of director of institution to New Year 2014

Dresden, /

After the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft has decided to consolidate its key competences in Dresden, Professor Volker Kirchhoff, Director of Fraunhofer FEP, is delighted to act as Director of the Fraunhofer COMEDD since 1st January 2014.

“I wish all our partners, customers and employees good health, much success and a lot of constructive ideas for the coming year! I am pleased about the new task to lead both Institutions, Fraunhofer FEP and Fraunhofer COMEDD as Acting Director as of 2014. Besides I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Deputy Director, Prof. Hermel, who was in charge of the interim direction of the Fraunhofer COMEDD during the past months.

The new management of both Fraunhofer Institutions will now prepare the integration in order to promote the cooperation and consolidation of the competences in the field of surface coating and development of flexible as well as OLED-on-silicon devices until 1st July 2014.

The formal reorganization has no influence on the cooperation with our customers and partners. The known contact persons for projects and cooperations will stay the same.

Besides the Free State of Saxony supports the development for the location. The minister of state, Professor Sabine von Schorlemer says: „Institutions in the Free State of Saxony are leading in the field of the organic electronic. Fraunhofer will continue the important and sustainable research activities in Dresden. The Fraunhofer Institute for Electron Beam and Plasma Technology FEP and Fraunhofer Research Institution for Organics, Materials and Electronic Devices COMEDD have been using joint research infrastructure for a long time and work closely together in the field of research projects, e. g. the development of a technology for the application of flexible OLED on film. Fraunhofer will stay an important partner of the economy and provide various possibilities for research, development and pilot production, especially for OLED lighting, organic photovoltaic cells, OLED microdisplays and sensorics.“

The Free State of Saxony will support the close cooperation between the integrated Fraunhofer COMEDD and the other divisions of Fraunhofer FEP and the Technical University Dresden.
