What to expect

This online course will cover Fraunhofer’s technology portfolio offered in PhotonHub. This training will be structured in three parts. Firstly, photonic solutions for laser-based-manufacturing will be presented. Following, Fraunhofer’s techniques for vacuum coating and treatment of services for flexible products and precision coatings is presented. Finally different wafer technologies for PICs covering applications such as telecom/datacom, sensing and quantum technologies.

Course outcomes

Participants can expect to gain:

• An introduction to laser-based-manufacturing solutions, Fraunhofer solutions and some application examples
• An introduction to optical coating technologies, Fraunhofer solutions and some application examples
• An introduction to PIC technologies, Fraunhofer solutions and some application examples
• An outline of the supports provided by PhotonHub, who is eligible and how to apply

Course audience

This introductory online training course targets new entrants to the photonics sector and experts in photonics interested in understanding manufacturing solutions, coating & surface treatment and techniques, and PIC wafer technologies.
